Biography

Michael Bibler is a new Associate Professor, specializing in southern literature and queer and feminist theories. Professor Bibler earned his Ph.D. at Tulane University and has taught for the last 7 years in the United Kingdom. He is the author of Cotton’s Queer Relations: Same-Sex Intimacy and the Literature of the Southern Plantation, 1936-1968 (2009) and the co-editor of essay collection Just Below South: Intercultural Performance in the Caribbean and the U.S. South (2007) and of Arna Bontemps's 1939 novel about the Haitian Revolution, Drums at Dusk (2009). This fall, he will be teaching English 3072 (“American Literature II”) and English 7971 (“Topics in Southern Studies: The American Plantation”).
